CHAPTER 2: Trouble Brewing

The day of the festival was approaching, and the village was busy, but things weren't going as planned for Ìyá Tolu. The rain came pouring down, soaking her firewood and ruining her chances of getting a good fire going. Frustrated, she made her way to Baba Akúko, the village elder.

"Baba Akúko, please, I need dry wood!" she begged.

“Hmm, the great Ìyá Tolu needs help now, eh?” he teased, but still handed her some dry wood with a wink.

Just when she thought she had everything under control, disaster struck. Her pot cracked, and to top it off, her goat Ọlọ́runpẹ́pẹ́ decided to run off into the bush.

“Why now? What kind of bad luck is this?” she muttered, looking helplessly at the empty cooking space.
