CHAPTER TWO - THE PROMISE OF A SAVIOUR

The village of Akokwa lies nestled in the heart of West Africa, a tapestry of earthy tones and vibrant colors. As the Ademolas approach, they're enveloped by the sweet scent of blooming baobab trees and the gentle rustle of leaves in the warm breeze.

The village unfolds like a living canvas, with mud-hut homes adorned with intricate patterns of white chalk and red ochre. The thatched roofs seem to blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape, as if nature herself had sculpted these dwellings.

The air is alive with the hum of activity: children's laughter echoes through the narrow alleys, while women expertly weave baskets and pound yams into fluffy fufu. The scent of smoldering wood and roasting corn wafts from cooking fires, teasing the senses and stirring the appetite.

In the village center, a magnificent tree stands tall, its gnarled branches stretching towards the sky like withered fingers. This ancient one, a revered symbol of wisdom and spirituality, is said to hold the secrets of the past and present.

Nearby, the village market bustles with life, a kaleidoscope of colors and textures. Vibrant fabrics, handwoven by skilled artisans, flutter in the breeze alongside pyramids of juicy fruits and baskets overflowing with fresh vegetables.

As the Ademolas make their way through the village, they notice the curious glances of the locals, who seem to sense their presence. The villagers' warm smiles and gentle nods convey a deep sense of community and welcome, putting the couple at ease.

In this enchanting village, where tradition and spirituality entwine like the branches of the ancient tree, the Ademolas hope to find the guidance and wisdom they seek from the revered Diviner.

They had followed the description a friend gave them but at the moment, they know not where to turn to, so they asked a local for direction. They followed the direction and at the single knock on the door of the hut the local described to them, it creaked open, a figure emerges from the shadows. The Diviner stands before them, his presence commanding attention. He is a tall, imposing figure with a strong, chiseled face and piercing brown eyes that seem to see right through them. His hair is a wild tangle of grey and white, resembling a stormy cloud. A wispy beard frames his jawline, and his skin is a deep, burnished brown from years of sun and wind.

He wears a flowing white robe, intricately embroidered with symbols and patterns that seem to dance in the fading light. A leather strap adorns his forehead, holding a small, gleaming stone in place. His hands are long and slender, with fingers that seem to be made for grasping and interpreting the secrets of the universe.

Despite his imposing appearance, his eyes twinkle with warmth and kindness, putting the Ademolas at ease. He regards them with a gentle, knowing gaze, He even told them that he had been expecting them as Aje (the god of wealth) had informed him of their coming."Now that I know you have come seeking guidance and wisdom, let us proceed," the Diviner says with a warm smile. "Aje has indeed informed me of your arrival, and I have prepared myself to receive you. Please, come in, come in," he gestures, beckoning them to enter his hut.

As they step inside, the Diviner motions for them to sit on a beautifully woven mat, adorned with intricate patterns and symbols. He settles in beside them, his eyes sparkling with a deep understanding.

"Your journey has been long and arduous, but fear not, for you have reached the threshold of a new beginning. Aje has brought you to me for a reason, and together, we shall unravel the mysteries of your path."

With a gentle nod, he begins to rummage through a small pouch tied to his waist, producing a handful of sacred stones, shells, and bones. "Let us consult the ancient ones," he says, his voice filled with reverence. "They shall reveal to us the secrets of your destiny."

When he was done making his divination, he looked at the two grinning from cheek to cheek, "The Great Orisa Aje has just revealed to me that in no time, sooner than you can ever imagine, a saviour would arrive amd your wretched past would become a thing of the past", he told them.
The Ademolas' faces light up with joy and hope as they listen to the Diviner's words. They gaze at each other, their eyes shining with excitement and relief.

"Thank you, dear Diviner!" Mrs. Ademola exclaims, her voice trembling with emotion. "We have been through so much, and to hear that a saviour is coming to change our circumstances is a blessing indeed!"

Mr. Ademola nods vigorously, his grin stretching from ear to ear. "We are forever grateful for your guidance and wisdom. Your words have given us new hope and strength to carry on."

They both bow their heads in reverence, thanking the Diviner and the Great Orisa Aje for the revelation. With renewed optimism and enthusiasm, they rise to their feet, took their leave and bade farewell.
